Pre-Professional Conservatory Program

Students who desire a formalized curriculum for possible future careers in company or commercial dance, or who are interested in a highly disciplined program for personal growth, are strongly encouraged to enroll in the pre-professional program. Requirements include a diverse dance curriculum grounded in the foundation of ballet, modern, and elective techniques such as lyrical, hip-hop, turns/leaps, and contemporary.

The school year begins in August and extends through July. Some conservatory students will also be selected as company members. Entry into the company program is by audition only. Auditions are held each July and August for the next school year. In addition to the weekly class requirements, company members are required to participate in solo, duet/trio, small and large group dance works choreographed by NUEVO faculty.

Pre-Professional Performing Company

Participating in various competitions, conventions, workshops and dance festivals is an important aspect of NUEVO training. Each of these different educational and performance venues are valuable tools that provide the students stage time and are important in developing self-confidence and artistic maturity onstage. Training for these competitions, performances at dance festivals, and classes at conventions and workshops affords student dancers an opportunity to set individual goals, builds self-motivational skills, and broadens the experience of the dancers. Finally, these diverse venues provide amazing opportunities to showcase the students achievements as a result of their diligent training.
